Hello,
I am Yongwook Lee, the Director of the Korean Education Center in Seattle. I am pleased to announce that the Seattle Korean Education Center has reopened after nearly 25 years, thanks to the ongoing requests and unwavering support from the Korean-American community.
Over the years, the educational environment in the Pacific Northwest, particularly among the Korean-American community, has dramatically improved. Various Korean language schools have been established for the second and third generations of Korean Americans, and many public elementary, middle, and high schools in multiple districts have introduced Korean as a second language. Recently, driven by the global wave of Korean culture, including K-POP, the number of clubs related to Korean culture has surged. Additionally, Korean universities have grown in recognition, with exchange students proudly wearing their Korean university jackets.
This evolving educational landscape is a testament to the passion and dedication of many individuals in the Korean-American community who have worked tirelessly for future generations in a foreign land. It also represents a valuable asset to Korea.
Building on this strong foundation, the Seattle Korean Education Center is committed to promoting the Korean language and culture in the Pacific Northwest while nurturing global talent that can thrive both in Korea and the United States. We aim to expand and enhance our Korean language and cultural programs. We will actively communicate and collaborate with public and educational institutions across Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska to foster smoother educational cooperation between Korea and the U.S.
Dear Korean-American community, the educational landscape in the Pacific Northwest is poised for even more remarkable progress. Together with you, the Seattle Korean Education Center will strive to create a better educational environment for the next generation.
Thank you.
Yongwook Lee
Director, Korean Education Center in Seattle
